College-Wide Capabilities

To align with the mission of Ensign College to develop capable and trusted disciples of Jesus Christ, the college is focused on helping learners demonstrate the following key capabilities across its programs and courses:

Professionalism: Students demonstrate their strong moral character (ethics) and personal responsibility (accountability) in their participation in organizations and communities.

Teamwork and Leadership: Students create and sustain a culture of trust, vision, and continuous improvement that adds value to an organization or community through their appropriate deference (emotional intelligence) and leadership (initiative).

Communication: Students demonstrate their ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to diverse audiences and in diverse modes and environments for mutual understanding and edification.

Problem Solving: Students demonstrate their ability to understand a problem (critical thinking), find the appropriate resources and evidence to inform their decisions (informational literacy), and produce effective solutions (creative thinking).

Technical Skills: Students develop the skills to succeed in their chosen field (field-specific skills) and the general skills necessary to function in a modern world (computer skills).
